Harold, better known as “Jake,” was born in Nashua, N.H., son of the late Harold and Florence (Longley) Chase. He lived in Bath, Maine, for several years but resided most of his life in Pepperell. He attended schools in Pepperell before serving his country as a member of the Army from 1958-1960. Jake worked for the First National Grocery chain for 28 years, before completing his career as a mechanic for Shanklin Corporation in Ayer.
Although recognized for his steady, laudable contributions in the workplace, Jake found his greatest satisfaction in caring for his home, both the physical structure and his loved ones within. He enjoyed classic cars, employing his athletic abilities during yard games and spending time with grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Norma (Young) Chase; his children, Laura Lyons and her husband, Dave, of Groton, Karen Chase of Tyngsboro, Jeffrey Chase and his wife, Wendy, of Gardner and Steven Chase of Himmelkron, Germany. In addition, Jake is survived by his brother, Leonard Chase; a sister, Alice Cornellier; eight grandchildren, Heather, Jessica, Kathryn, Melissa, Kenneth, Thomas, Sean, Keri; and one great-grandchild, Patrick. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald E. Chase.
