Hubert Wirtz Obituary
Hubert "Hubie" Wirtz Jr., 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Hubert was born on May 17, 1934 in Montreal, Canada a son of Hubert and Therese (Massie) Wirtz.
He is predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Maximina Wirtz of Fitchburg, and his daughter Michelle Wirtz. He is survived by his daughters Oly Wirtz of Lawrenceville, NJ, Lesly Borges of Leominster, MA, grandchildren Michael Lowe, Jennifer Lowe, Beverly Madden, Katherine Irizarry and Lily and Dylan Michales. Great grandchildren, Lissette and Trevor Lowe, Silas Herndon, Micah Behenna and Emerson Madden.
In Hubie's early years, he was an avid ice hockey player and played in a men's softball league in central Massachusetts. Hubie enjoyed watching baseball and cheering for the New York Yankees. He enjoyed photography, traveling with his wife, and attending his kid's and grandkid's sporting events.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Saint Joseph Parish or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Calling hours are from 5-7PM Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in the Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 11:00AM at St Joseph's Church, located at 49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg, Massachusetts, 01420. Burial services will be private.
