John LaPosta Obituary
John C. LaPosta, 83, lifelong resident of Leominster, MA who most recently resided in Fitchburg, passed away on May 26, 2022, at Sterling Village after a prolonged battle with Meningioma. On his final days he was surrounded by his children, family, and friends whom he adored more than anything else in the world.
John was born on February 15, 1939 to Luigi and Rose (Melattti) LaPosta in Leominster. John graduated from Leominster High School in 1959. He began his career as a Mold Maker and worked for Crisci Tool and Die, Bisson Brothers and other shops in the Fitchburg-Leominster area. He also worked weekends at Pete's Coffee Shop where he combined his passion for cooking and socializing.
While working at Padula's Bakery in 1961, he met Patricia Ann Baril, and immediately knew he had met the woman he would spend the rest of his life with. Pat and John married in April 1963 and were together for nearly 59 years until Patricia's recent passing in March 2022.
John was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of the St. Anna Parish community. In his later years, he enjoyed, gardening, making puzzles and baking pizzelles with his mother's recipe.
John was predeceased by his wife Patricia, sister Dolores MacFarlane and brother Joseph LaPosta. He is survived by a daughter Julie Ann LaPosta of Shrewsbury, MA; a son, John (Chuck) LaPosta and his wife Suellen of Holden, MA; a brother, Pasquale LaPosta of Arlington, TX; a sister-in-law Claire (Quinn) LaPosta of Leominster, MA; four grandchildren, Zachary, Griffin, Emma and Ryan LaPosta; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in Wright-Roy Funeral Home, Inc.,109 West Street, Leominster, MA followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anna Church, 199 Lancaster Street, Leominster, MA.
