I'm deeply sadden by the passing of Mark, as an member of B co in the 80's, I was very fond of Mark as an friend and as an professional soldier. He was a devout SF NCO that was admired greatly by the men of 3rd BN, as well as 10th Group as a whole. He will be surely missed, may God be with him now and with his family. Dear Mel,
I met Mark as I came to my first ODA at Fort Devens. He was the outgoing Team SGT and my first Team Party was at your house. He was one of the great NCO's that personified Special Forces. He will be missed by all who met him.

I remember SGM Fisher's enthusiasm and humor. I was not a cadet in the JROTC corps at Methuen High. I actually knew him because I was in the high school's marching band. Band and JROTC were both held in the fine arts wing of the school. Upon going to band at the end of the day, I would always see him in the hallways, and on the way to class we wold chat about life. When the band kids would come in the area, he would always tell me that "the circus was in town." I always got a chuckle out of that. Through his example, he taught me how to be a leader that was loving, as well as a leader that knew how to command respect. I am currently the Drum Major for Methuen High School's marching band. Every time I lead the band onto the field, I will think about how Sargent Major helped me to get where I am today. God bless him, and god bless his family.

Dear Mel, Brian & Andrea,
Mark was an exceptional soldier and an extraordinary person. He was my first ski instructor when I came to 10th, and the patience he displayed dealing with this 27 year old non-skiing "hotshot" was enlightening. The last time I saw him was just before we left Devens in 1995, but it seems like only yesterday. He will be missed, but as long as we remember him he's still here.
Godspeed and Happy Trails!

To The Fisher Family
I met Mark at Ft. Devens he was first my Team Sgt. and later on the First Sgt of Support Company were he put my E7 strips on me. He was a great guy one of the old breed. He said once that a Team Sargent's job was to train his guys and boy was he right. We shared many good time both at work and after work and I always wondered how a big guy could look so good on skis, that was Mark. He will be missed throughout the community and by his friends.

Who would keep us down in a circle doing push-ups forever if we weren't loud enough? Our Sargent Major, that's who. :)
Like many, I've had him as my teacher in the JROTC at Methuen High. Not only was Sargent Major an incredible teacher, but a great friend. He always knew how to keep the motivation going.
He is greatly missed.

Mark was my Team Sergeant for 2 years while I was stationed at Ft Devens. He was a great mentor, friend and the best Team Sergeant that I ever had. As with all soldiers we may not have spoken in many years but when we meet again we will pick right up where we left off. Mark is now the Tm Sgt of the ODA manned by our many friends who have passed before us.
Good Speed Brother,

I am honored to have known SGM Fisher as a teacher, mentor, friend. His selfless service and steadfast dedication to everyone he helped provided a lasting example for anyone who had the opportunity to learn and listen. A true quiet professional, SGM Fisher will remain the example of a model NCO and good man.
Thank you for everything. You were always good to me and always there for your students.

It was such an honor to have met SGM Fisher and have him as a JROTC instructor for 4 years. Definitely have had some lasting memories: from Military Ball, to sports talk, to PT Fridays, and much much more. As someone has previously said, he was like a second father - he provided structure and guidance, and always looked forward to hearing from Cadets even after graduation. He will be sorely missed.
