Beloved Leominster School Teacher
Leominster- Marta R. (Piermarini) Bahde, 71, of Leominster, died Tuesday, January 25, at Brigham and Women's Hospital with her husband and children by her side. Marta was born in Pretare, Italy on November 11, 1950, the daughter of the late Gabriele and Enea (Ciccolini) Piermarini.
Marta was a graduate of St. Bernard's High School and received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Fitchburg State College. She was a beloved teacher that taught at several schools in the city of Leominster, including Carter Jr. High, Gallagher, Fallbrook and Samoset.
There are many words that could describe Marta; selfless, loving, smart, kind and thoughtful, but the one she loved the most was Nonni. She loved being with her grandchildren and the time they spent with her was their favorite; they adored her. Family was the most important thing to Marta. She and her husband, Stephen, enjoyed 45 years together. They could be just sitting quietly in the same room and be happy just to be together; they were often found spending time together reading and listening to music in their backyard. Marta valued her relationships. She loved being with family, having lunch with friends, and being with her sisters. Marta also loved gardening, the beach, scrapbooking, and traveling; she especially loved traveling back to Italy, yearly family trips to Cape Cod, and a once in a lifetime trip to Disney World with her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, always ensuring her children left her house with brownies and other goodies. She was also a huge sports fan and loved the Red Sox, March Madness, and the Patriots (but was taking a break from Tom Brady).
Marta leaves her adoring husband of 43 years, Stephen J. Bahde; her daughter, Juliane Davis and husband Colin of Leominster; her son, Stephen M. Bahde and wife Jessica of Sterling; her grandchildren, Jack Davis and Reed, Brynn and Liv Bahde; her sisters, Franca Sullivan and husband Edward, and Anna Maria Piermarini, both of Leominster; sisters-in-law, Patricia Salvatore of Leominster and Christine Bahde of Shrewsbury; her niece, Mariette Sheldon and her nephew Gabe Sullivan.
A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 2 at 11:00 A.M. at Holy Family of Nazareth Church, 750 Union St., Leominster, with burial following in St. Leo's Cemetery.
To honor the health and wellness of family and friends, there will be no calling hours. All guests are asked to go directly to Church.
