Mary Russo Obituary

Mary A. Russo longtime Leominster resident; 89 LEOMINSTER Mary A. (Petrucci) Russo, 89 years old, of Leominster, formerly of Fitchburg, passed peacefully surrounded by her children and grandchildren on Tuesday, September 9, after a brief illness. The good Lord felt it was time for her to be reunited with her one and only true love, her husband Joe. She was born July 27, 1919 in Leominster and was the third of ten children of Pasquale and Luigia (DiLuzio) Petrucci. Mary had lived in Fitchburg for several years before returning to Leominster over 50 years ago. In 1937, she married Joseph A. Russo, Sr. and began a family of 11 children. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before his passing in 1998. Known for her excellent cooking, Mary worked for Onyx Catering and Coffee Shop for many years. She also worked for Key Plastics, as well as JD Industries. Mary enjoyed Bingo, the Boston Red Sox, trips to Foxwood Casino and her flower garden. Saturday night poker games with her family also gave her much joy. She was a member of St. Anna's Church in Leominster. She is survived by her 8 daughters, Rita Colecchi, Barbara Fournier, Dorothy Duffy, Debra LeBlanc, Mary Baronowski and Joan Bernard, all of Leominster, Patricia Christian of Ashburnham, and Roberta Phelan of Fitchburg, her 3 sons, George Russo and John Russo, both of Fitchburg and Joseph Russo, Jr. of Leominster, 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her 2 brothers, Silvio Petrucci of Fitchburg and Alleo Petrucci of Leominster; and her sister, Amelia Garneau of Leominster. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Russo, Sr., her brothers, Pasquale Petruuci and Mario Petrucci and by her sisters, Beatrice Manzella, Nina DiMarzio, Marcia Hedge, and Stella Nacke. RUSSO A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 12 from the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West Street, Leominster with a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Anna's Church, 194 Lancaster Street, Leominster. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 11 from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. www.richardsonfuneralhome.net

Dear Rita, Patty, Barbara, George, Jackie, MaryRose, Dotty, Joan, Roberta, Joe, and Debbie,

Please accept my deepest condolence. I am sorry that I was not able to attend your mother's funeral.

Aunt Mary always enjoyed life. She especially enjoyed the many family gatherings at her home. I will always have fond memories of visiting Uncle Joe, Aunt Mary, and all my cousins.
