Richard 83 Obituary
Richard F. Sullivan, 83, died on Monday July 19, 2021 in the Sherrill House Nursing Home after a long period of declining health.
Richard was born on August 28, 1937 the son of the late Francis L. and Edith M. (Rahmberg) Sullivan. After graduating from St Bernards High School, Richard attended Holy Cross College and went on to earn a Bachelors from Boston College and a Masters of Library Science from Simmons College. Richard worked for the city of Boston Public Library as both a librarian and library director for over 40 years.
Richard is survived by his sister Barbara Hardy and her husband Captain Brenton Hardy of San Diego, CA; and nephews Mark, Ted and Mike and niece Kelly and their families.
You are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday July 27, 2021 from 5-7PM in the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St. Fitchburg. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday July 28, 2021 with a Mass at 10AM in St. Bernard Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic St. Fitchburg. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, Fitchburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to the Sherrill House, 135 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
