He was born in Fitchburg, May 22, 1936, the son of Gaston and Mary Ann (Bouthot) Cormier. He grew up in Fitchburg and attended local schools and attained his G.E.D. at Mount Wachusett Community College.
Mr. Cormier worked for James River Co. #8 Mill and retired 11 years ago due to illness.
He served in the Army National Guard.
Mr. Cormier leaves his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann Gaudet and her husband, John F., of Ashburnham; his sisters, Claire Banaszak and her husband, Victor, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Julie Chartrand of Ashburnham; his grandchildren, John R. Gaudet, Jackline Gaudet, Amanda Gaudet, Cindy Thibault and Susan Thibault; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dolores and Leonard Bilandry of Fitchburg, Shirley and Harvey Mariotti of Westminster, and Pauline Beaulac of Fitchburg. His wife of 49 and a half years, Gloria A. (Dionne) Cormier, died on Jan. 3, 2005. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Debra Ann R. Thibault, in 2000.
CORMIER -- On May 28, Robert G. Cormier, 70, of Ashburnham. Calling hours are Friday, June 2, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., Fitchburg, followed by a reception at the American Legion Hall, 200 Daniels St., Fitchburg. Flowers may be sent or contributions made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham MA 01701.
