Robert Leighton Obituary

Robert D. Leighton of Leominster, Army vet; 73 LEOMINSTER Robert D. Leighton, died Friday, Dec. 26, at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, after a illness. He was born on September 8, 1935, in Boston, the son of Harvey and Edith (Underwood) Leighton. Bob was recently predeceased by his wife, Audrey (Dwyer) Leighton, and by his first wife, Janet (Ecker) Leighton in 1983. He leaves two sons, David Leighton of Maine, and William Leighton of Colorado; two daughters, Lydia I. Mason, and Tina Marie Larrabee, both of Maine; one brother, Harvey Leighton of Tewksbury; and six grandchildren. He was also predeceased by a brother, Maxi Leighton Bob was a Retired US Army Veteran serving from Sept. 8,1953 to Aug. 31, 1975. Attaining the Rank of SP5. He received The National Defense Service Medal, The Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and The Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm. LEIGHTON The Funeral will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, (Dec. 31) in The Curley-Marchand Funeral Home, 89 West St., Leominster. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling Hours at the Funeral Home will be on Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM.
