Elizabeth Stanley Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Stanley

Brevard, FL

Elizabeth "Betty" Gerold McNay Stanley passed away in her sleep the morning of February 26, 2015 at home in Mt. Pleasant, SC after a long battle against her declining health. It was a battle she fought with courage and bravery. Caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren is something she would note as her greatest achievement.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Suzanne McNay Teagle, her son, Rue McNay, her daughter-in-law Tatianna and her loving sister, Suzanne "Sue" DeMarse. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren: Elizabeth, Matthew, Clayton, Shane, Andrew, Maura, Rue, Jennifer, Elena and Elizabeth, four great-grandchildren: Patricia, Trent, Tana and Caroline. She also has many nieces and nephews that she held close to her heart as well, especially the DeMarse kids.  She reunites with the love of her life, her husband, Everett, her parents, George and Toots, her brother, E.F., her daughter, Patricia, and her son, John in heaven.

The family is planning a small private memorial service in Florida at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Roper Hospice, 1483 Tobias Gadson Blvd. Charleston, SC  29407. Also please consider this unconventional request, please enjoy a Manhattan, on the sweet side with no bitters, spend time with your loved ones, and bet on something good.

Betty, impacted so many young lives, she was so active and caring. Her home was a revolving door in the neighborhood. She had movie star looks and a heart of gold. I just loved her!

Betty, was simply my idol. She was the cutest, best dressed, sharpest little lady in town. I loved her mannerisms, I would drive with my leg bent up on the seat, wear penny loafers, make my hair blonde. Etc. I always felt special in her company, l just loved her. Patty, was a carbon copy, my best friend at Queen of Peace, and our days at Dorchester pool were simply golden. The McNay Family is forever in my heart.

Dear Susie,
Sorry for your loss; she'll be missed by many.

Rue & Suzie - What can anyone say, your mom was FUN - it takes me back to Gary Drive. (When we would steal her cigs.) Betty had an unbelievable devotion to her kids. She will be missed, but people we loved usually are, especially moms.

Thinking of you,

Rue & Suzie - sympathies and prayers on the loss of your mom. I remember so many "quiet" days at your house and your mom helping us to swim better at Dorchester.
