HELEN ALLISON Obituary

Helen Margaret (Wurz) Allison Satellite Beach With profound and over whelming sad ness, family and friends learned Mrs. Helen Margaret (Wurz) Allison died early Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the age of 84. The family moved from Indiana to Florida in 1960 and the deceased was a 44 year resident of Satellite Beach, Florida. Helen Wurz Allison was born in Indianapolis, Indi ana, on February 8, 1927, to Kurt and Margaret Wurz. She graduated from Sa cred Heart Catholic High School in Indianapolis, in 1945. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Norman Allison, in 1948, and became a devoted wife and mother to their five children. Mrs. Allison was a devout, happy, and good natured lady a dear friend and a great neigh bor. She was truly a joy to be around and had a great sense of humor. Her family and numerous friends ap preciated and were in spired by her energetic and humorous disposition, and they had grown to rely on her genuinely kind and car ing spirit. Unfortunately, Mrs. Allison was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syn drome (MDS) in 2010, and complications forced her to enter the hospital on Janu ary 23, 2011, where she re mained and underwent two surgeries, several proce dures, and bravely and successfully fought several serious complications until she finally answered Gods call and left to take her place in heaven with her husband and loved ones. Mrs. Allison was a dedi cated and loyal parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Indialan tic, for some 44 years, and was member of the Secular Franciscan Order, Our Lady of the Angels Frater nity, and had reached her 60 year anniversary in 2010. She also volunteered for almost everything she was asked to do, including volunteering at the HNJ Thrift Shop (15 years); the HNJ Adoration Chapel (12 years); the Daisy Pickers; cooked and cleaned for the priests; was a Eucharistic Minister; and donated and contributed to numerous other charitable organiza tions dedicated to helping the weak, the sick, and the poor. Predeceased by her husband Richard, who worked and retired from NASA; her brother, John Wurz; and her parents. Mrs. Allison is survived by five children who adored her and will miss her im mensely four sons, Tony (Nicole) Allison, Paul (Eva) Allison M.D, David (Kath leen) Allison, Joseph Alli son; and daughter, Ann Allison J.D. She was also the doting Grandma to her nine grandchildren, Chelsea Ar nold, Cadet Julian, Megan, Elizabeth, Mark, Stephen, Sara, Christopher (and their mother Linda), and Jocelee Allison. She also leaves her sister, Kathryn (Tony) Cento; sister-in-law, Alvina Wurz; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and neph ews. Her childhood friend for life Margie Dicks is also among the living along with countless local and long time friends and neighbors, many affiliated with the Franciscans and several prayer and religious groups she belonged to at HNJ. The family extends its warmest and profound gratitude to the Holmes Regional Medical Center nursing staff, especially those on the 6th floor of the Heart Center, who were very attentive and person able to the family and other visitors, and who provided their warm, loving, profes sional care to Mrs. Allison during her long and compli cated illness. Special thanks to Simon Vinarsky M.D., who treated Mrs. Allison like his own mother and was her most enthusi astic supporter. We are sad and incon solable at our tremendous earthly loss, but we know our loss is Heavens gain and we are inspired to live the rest of our lives in a way that will lead us to her presence in our final hours. We shall continue to re mind ourselves, and others who share our grief, that God called our special Mrs. Allison to Him for a special reason and she must com ply with His plan. Gathering will be held from 6-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Beach Funeral Home, Indian Harbour Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Holy Name of Jesus, Indialantic. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m., at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rock ledge. Flowers will be accepted, of those who wish may contribute to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Helens name.

Dear Joe and Family, I am so sorry to hear about your mother and cannot imagine the immense loss you must be feeling. She was such a kind, lovely person and was deeply loved by her children. How many times I thought to myself "I would love to stop in and see Mrs. Allison, I have not seen her in so many years!" Now I will never get that chance, my loss. Joe, I can only hope your pain eases over the years to come and that of your children too. Loving Regards, Anne

Helen was not only my very special Aunt but I was Blessed to have her as my
Godmother. I have many special memories of my Aunt Helen ... she loved her family and was always wearing that beautiful smile. I loved to listen to her funny but true stories. Even though miles separated us she was always in my heart. She is now with Uncle Dick, my grandparents, Aunt Tracey and my Dad ... I'd say there is a real party going on up there. To my wonderful cousins ... you have my deepest sympathy. Cherish all of the special moments and memories and I know you have enough to last a lifetime. Love you all, Diane
