James Brian Getson, formerly of Indialantic, FL and the Denver, CO area, passed away with his daughter by his side on August 28, 2020 in Cheyenne, Wyoming from complications of a heart attack. He was 55.

Born in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania to William and Marion Getson, "Jimmy" attended Gemini Elementary and Hoover Junior High and graduated from Melbourne High School in 1983. He obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Photography from Brevard Community College in 1987.

Jim worked in Sales at Southern Photo in Melbourne and spent over a decade at Mike's Camera in greater Denver, Colorado, specializing in telescopes and high-end photography equipment used to photograph the stars, skies and the natural world. He also won many sales awards at Mike's and in auto sales in the Denver area. More recently, he worked in the private security business in Cheyenne, Wyoming.

A natural born salesman and photographer in the black-and-white style of Ansel Adams, Jim's work was featured in several Colorado art galleries. A self-taught guitarist and inventor, Jim also wrote and produced his own music and designed unique golf clubs and putters. He was an avid golfer, sailor, astronomer, storm chaser, hiker, skier and lover of the great outdoors.

Beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend, Jim is survived by his daughter Jewell Getson Coulter, son-in-law Seth and light-of-his-life grandson Jameson of Buena Vista, CO. Sadly, he was predeceased in death by his son Jakob R. Getson in March 2020. Also mourning his loss are his grieving parents William and Marion Hughes Getson of Melbourne, FL; brother Daniel [Tracey and Travis] of Lake Worth, FL; sisters Lisa Getson of Coto de Caza, CA [Todd Lansinger] and Eileen Getson Bentley [Paul and Morgan] of Viera, FL and numerous other relatives and friends. He was a very special person who will be forever remembered by his family, co-workers and lifelong friends.

A funeral Mass to celebrate Jim's life will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Viera, FL at 11 AM on Saturday, July 31. A private family memorial will be held at the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve at a future date.
