John Weidig Obituary

RICK WEIDIG MERRITT ISLAND John Rick Weidig, 52, after an eight year coura geous battle with cancer, passed away on January 4, 2006 at home. Ricks loving wife, Kem, and son, D.J., stood by his side for the entire battle with his illness. The love and support that he received helped him enjoy his last years to the fullest with never a complaint. Their life together was an E-ticket ride! He was an inspiration to all. Rick was never too busy for his parents, Peter and Isabelle Weidig. He was a devoted and caring son. Rick founded his own com- pany, Rick Weidig Construction, Inc. in 1989, specializing in cus tom homes. The success of his company never overshadowed what life is about, family and friends. He enjoyed throwing parties at a moments notice with a whole circle of friends there at the drop of a hat. When all else failed, Rick could be found on the golf course with his friends. His illness never touched his passion for life. If a man is measured by the number of his true friends, Rick was a giant. A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m., January 14, 2006 at the North Merritt Island Moose Lodge, 3150 North Courtenay Parkway. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wuestoff Brevard Hospice. Arrangements by locally owned and operated Atlantic Mortuary in Rockledge.

We have many fond memories of time spent with Rick in our home, hunting, fishing and on the golf course in our later high school and early college years. Great memories cruising around Brevard in the Camaro. We offer our deepest sympathies and prayers to the family. God bless!

To all the Weidig family I have many happy memories with Rick growing up in Cocoa Beach. He was there as my golf mentor and friend, and we have many happy memories on the golf course! Now the angels are singing and shouting in heaven! God Bless Rick!

Fondly,

MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU, I WORK FOR EAST COAST LUMBER AND GOT TO SEE RICK PRETTY OFTEN, ALWAYS WITH A SMILE ON HIS FACE, EVEN IF HE DIDN'T FEEL THE BEST. HE AND GARY PUT UP MY HURRICANE SHUTTERS THIS PAST SEASON, LOOKING OUT FOR ME BECAUSE MY HUSBAND PASSED AWAY LAST JANUARY AND THEY TOOK EXTRA TIME AND EFFORT TO MAKE SURE IT WAS DONE PERFECT, I KEPT TRYING TO GET RICK TO SIT DOWN AND REST , BUT, HE JUST KEPT PLUGGING AWAY, HE WILL BE MISSED AND I KNOW THAT EACH HURRICANE SEASON, I WILL PUT MY SHUTTERS UP WITH A SMILE AND WILL BE THINKING OF RICK.

My name is Wendy Anzalone and i'm a neighbor of Gary Karol. Rick and Gary did work on my home from roofing to shutters to some wood work. He built an inside gate for my dogs that's absolutely wonderful. I got to know Rick a little and he was a really nice guy. I know Gary will miss his good friend and I was deeply sorry to hear of you loss. May the good Lord help you and your family get through this time tough time.

With my deeperst sympathy
