Melinda Larsen Obituary
Merritt Island - Melinda Elaine Larsen of Merritt Island, FL went to be with her Lord Jesus on Sat, June 12, 2021.
Mel was 63 years young. She fought metastatic breast cancer for over 3 years. She passed peacefully at the Orlando Regional Medical Center.
Mel was born on December 31st, 1957 to Arthur Eugene Nienow and the former Clara Belle Roberts in Sumter, SC. She holds a B.S. degree in Finance, and a Master's in Management.
She was an internal auditor and Executive VP at three federal credit unions. Later, she changed careers and became a pedorthist and co-owner of CDMS diabetic foot care in Merritt Island. For a time, she volunteered as a Treasurer and Board Member of Shiloh Adventure Christian youth camp.
Mel is survived by her husband Howard Louis Larsen II, Lt Col, USAF (Ret). Mel and Lou were married on October 24, 1981 in Tampa, FL. They settled down in Merritt Island in 1997 and attended Calvary Chapel Merritt Island.
She is also survived by her brother, Arthur Scott Nienow of Ruskin, FL and two adult, married sons: Steven Louis Larsen married to the former Abigail Davies; and Jeffrey Scott Larsen married to Carla Mavian. Mel also has two grandchildren: Elisha and Anna.
A Celebration of Life is set for Sat, July 3rd starting at 2 pm at Calvary Chapel Merritt Island, 3500 N. Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, please donate in Melinda's name to Sonfishers youth outreach at CCMI. Or place a 'pay-it-forward' to Mel's favorite video series, using the app "The Chosen."
Mel's favorite verse is 'Love is patient, love is kind… Love never fails…' (1 Cor 13:4-8)
