William Britz Obituary

William "Bill" Carroll Britz died January 29, 2017 of Alzheimer's at Inspired Living, Palm Bay, FL. at his side was his loving family.

Bill was born in Chicago, IL. on September 14, 1940 to Nicholas Britz and Viola Harmening. Due to the early deaths of his parents, Bill was raised by his aunt and uncle Emil and Edith Kuester, Roy and Helen Sarbecker of Black Earth, Wi and the Helmenstine family whom he treasured in his lifetime.

He met his wife, Shauna, in northern Michigan where he was stationed for 11 years. A radar navigator on a B52, Vietnam tours, 4 years at Barksdale, AFB, LA, PAFB Recruiting Squadron Commander for 6 yrs., and after 2 yrs. at AFTAC , Bill retired. He was owner of Beach One, a novelty gift store for many years, and enjoyed working with the Brevard Swimming Pool Association in his later years.

He is survived by his wife, Shauna McKay Britz of Satellite Beach, FL. His son Bradley William Britz of Melbourne, FL., his daughter Heather Britz of Plainfield, IL. , and his daughter Kara Britz Barber (Scott Barber) Chicago, IL. The joy of his life his grandchildren, Taylor Elizabeth Oswald of Morris, IL, Daniel William Oswald of Satellite Beach and his great granddaughter, Violet Olivia Ellingwood of Morris, IL.

A memorial Mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church on Saturday, February 4th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution, in Bill's name, to one of these charities: Alzheimer's Association of America, 322 English Ave., 7th FL , New York, New York or online Alzfdn.org or The Haven, Box 327, Melbourne, FL 32902.

Our family sends heartfelt gratitude to Michael and Sue Dunne who walked the Ahlzeimer's journey with us, to another big blessing, Mary Ellen Long, our CNA who lovingly helped care for Bill, Melvin and Aquanda Jordan and their family for always being there when needed, and our many friends who supported our special needs. James Brassard of Inspired Living who walked with Shauna until the journey ended, his exceptionally caring staff and in the final two days caring angels from Hospice.

Dear Shauna, I just found out about Bill's passing. We would have been at his memorial mass had we known. So many great memories...

George suffers from dementia and is currently in the hospital (since December 31) after being hit by a car.
