Allen Chopik Obituary

NAPLES – Allen Harold Chopik, aged 68, passed away unexpectedly, on Monday (July 5, 2021).

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday (July 17) at Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes, in Farmington.

Allen was born on July 26, 1952 to the late Joseph and Selma Chopik, in Northport, Long Island. He obtained his Bachelors Degree in Nursing and spent 42 years in the Nursing field. Allen served our Nations Veterans for 36 years at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center. Dedicated to the Union, he served as President of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) for numerous years. He also served his community with memberships at many volunteer ambulance corps, including Medic 60, and Maxwell Hose Company.

Allen's greatest passion is his family and friends.

He is survived by his children James (Christine) Chopik USAF Ret., and their daughter, Morgan; son, David Chopik USAF; daughter, Sara (Nate) Eisenberg, and their sons Mason and Michael Eisenberg; the mother of his children, Elizabeth Olson; his fiancé, Cindy Michalko; and one brother, Gary Chopik.

Allen was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Richard Chopik.

Just learning of this. Allen was a great AFGE Union president. As a Union Steward I often worked closely with him and advocacy for employees has not been the same since Allen retired as Union president. He was the same age as I am and glad he had the chance to retire and have some non work years.

Such sad news. So so sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts go out to ALL who loved him. There are so many hearts and hands that he touched. I cannot physically be at his service and celebration today; however, please know that you are all in my thoughts. He will be missed by many of us for a very long time to come.

To Allen's family we send our sincere condolences. We worked with Allen at the VA. In the late 1990s, he created the 1st of its kind real-time database for our Homeless Program. His contribution made a big difference in the lives of Homeless Veterans. Thanks, Allen, for all the support you provided. You were a good man with alot of heart. Rest in peace.
