Barbara Nowak Obituary
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday (March 17th) from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Benton Fire Hall, 932 Rte. 14A, Penn Yan, NY 14527.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Yates County History Center, 107 Chapel St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
Barbara was born Dec. 5, 1940 in Rochester, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Reta Peck Whiteman. Barbara retired in 1999, after 13 years as a Home Health Aide with Yates County. She was proud of her recovery from alcoholism in 1980.
Barbara is survived by three children Bernice (Aaron) Lack, Molly (Tim) Turner and Theodore (Eileen) Nowak; six grandchildren Nathaniel Bergstresser, Noel Bowman, Nick Nowak-Bell, Jennifer Nowak, Kimberly Nowak and Landon Parker; four sisters Mildred Colburn, Donna (Hugh) Cunningham, Sharon (John Kelsey) Fulkrod and Becky (Jerry) Turybury; and several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, John Nowak, Jr.; and her daughter-in-law, Ellen Nowak.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Weldon Funeral Home.
