Constance McFadden Obituary

GENEVA – Constance Ann (O'Malley) McFadden, 92, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at the Homestead Nursing Home in Penn Yan.

Friends and family may call at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home, 181 N. Main St., on Sunday, March 15 from 3 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 16th at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's Church. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Geneva Center of Concern.

Connie was born in Geneva, N.Y. on August 28, 1933, the daughter of the late Gertrude (McCormick) and John F. O'Malley. She was one of seven O'Malley children, and was a great-granddaughter of Irish immigrants who settled in Geneva. Connie graduated from DeSales High School in the class of 1951 and began working for the telephone company in Geneva. She was also a former teller at Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union. Connie married Gene McFadden in Geneva in 1955 and they were married for a remarkable 64 years.

Connie was a woman of great faith, attended mass daily for as long as she was able to, and was a member and Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady of Peace Parish. She was a longtime member of the Geneva Winnek Post #396 Auxiliary and volunteered with her husband Gene at the Geneva Center of Concern.

Connie was a devoted wife and mother and will be greatly missed by her family, whom she loved dearly. She is survived by her children; Thomas (Marianne) of Ocean Pines, MD, Mary (John) Schramm of Roswell, GA, Barbara (Jeffrey) Leonard of Cumming, GA, and Bob (Ann) of Geneva; sister-in-law, Mary (Doersam) O'Malley; grandchildren: Kate, Ben, Emily, and Natalie McFadden, Will, John, and Mary Kate Leonard, and Bradley and Michael Schramm; and several nieces and nephews.

Connie was predeceased by her husband, Gene, and two sons Richard and John McFadden; brothers John, Robert, Richard, and Philip O'Malley; and sisters Janet O'Malley and Patricia Mahota.

Connie and family would like to acknowledge and thank the nursing staff at both the Homestead Nursing Home & URMC Hospice for their devoted care and compassion.

Yesterday

I send the McFadden family my condolences. Your Mim was such a sweet lady. It is ironic that going through family recipes I ran across the famous Geneva Times McFadden Family Soda Bread recipe. I hope this brings back wonderful memories of both your parents especially on St. Patrick´s Day 2026

Yesterday

The McFaddens from the Greater Canandaigua and Bloomfield Areas wish to express their condolences to the Gene and Constance McFadden family. We had been asked over the years if we were related to Gene and Constance seeing as there were few McFaddens listed in phone books of the era. We said we were not as our parents arrived at the Canandaigua Frontier in 1964 from Montgomery NY via their parents from Queens NY and rural Long Island. I being Rich (6'-2") was asked if I was Gene's son who played basketball. My brother and I though tall couldn't play basketball at all (also asked if related and cousins also tall). We played pond hockey. My ex-wife was also asked if she was one of Gene's daughters due to her curly hair I guess from Constance's photo.

I met Gene at Church's Hardware and gave him my address when we were living between Seneca Castle and Geneva on CR 4. Gene kindly shared the McFadden family history that showed origination from Philadelphia.

Again our condolences from the other McFaddens of Ontario County from New York City originally.
