Daniel Petrizzi Obituary

GENEVA - Dr. Daniel J. Petrizzi, 102, of Geneva, passed away at his home on Tuesday (December 20, 2022), surrounded by his loving family.

There will be no prior calling hours.

Funeral services and burial in Glenwood Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Dan was raised in Rye, N.Y. He received degrees from Middlebury College, the Sorbonne in Paris, and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study in France before embarking on a career teaching at Hobart and William Smith College in Geneva and later at Eisenhower College in Seneca Falls. Dan served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, from 1942-45, serving in China, Burma and India with the 12th Air Service Group which serviced General Chenault's Flying Tigers. He was awarded four Bronze Stars.

Dan was an avid golfer, holding the Club Championship at Geneva Country Club in 1980 and playing golf up until his 90s. He was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Geneva Country Club, Winnek Post #396 American Legion and Historic Geneva. Following his retirement, he and his wife of 68 years traveled to Europe and Canada, and spent many winters in Lakeland, Fla.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennie Baroody Petrizzi; his sister, Elena Vetere of Rye, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Ruth Gallagher of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Ralph and Bernie Petrizzi; his brothers-in-law, Sam and Roger Baroody, and William Gallagher; and his nephew, William Gallagher.
