David Kuryla Obituary
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to - 7 p.m. Thursday (November 11) at Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday (November 12) at St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Interment to follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery.
Donations in memory may be made to either Mynderse Academy Above the Rim Basketball Boosters, 105 Troy St., Seneca Falls, NY 13148, Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 E. River Rd., Waterloo, NY 13165, or St. Patrick's Church - Parish Office, 35 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165.
David was born in Seneca Falls, the son of the late Michael and Catherine (Woods) Kuryla. He was a graduate of Mynderse Academy, Class of 1955. After high school, David served in the US Army from 1958-1960. On October 23, 1965 he married Mary Short, and the pair shared in 40 years of marriage until her passing in 2006. He was employed with Gould's Pumps for over 42 years, and retired as Machine Shop Inspector. David was a member of the Seneca Falls Knights of Columbus, Council 222 where he attained the highest rank of fourth degree. David's biggest passion in life was attending Mynderse Academy basketball games, where he was known as their #1 fan. He was also a member of the Fir, Fin, & Feather Club of Seneca Falls for many years. In his spare time, David enjoyed making wine and tending to his vegetable garden.
David is survived by his son, James Kuryla; grandson, Samuel J. Kuryla who is proudly serving in the US Navy; sister-in-law, Bonnie Short; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
David was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Mary.
