Elio Pluretti Obituary

SENECA FALLS - It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Elio Pluretti, 94, who passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

At Elio's request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial mass will be Saturday, November 22, 2025 at St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the St. Columbkille Cemetery, 133 E. Bayard St, Seneca Falls, N.Y.

Born August 27, 1931, in Cerageto, Italy, he was the son of Ottavio and Maria Agata (Morganti) Pluretti. Shortly after immigrating to Seneca Falls, Elio was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served as a Corporal in the 4th Armored Division and participated in Operation Sagebrush. Elio and Elizabeth Scaramuzzino met as neighbors on Bridge St in Seneca Falls and married on October 12, 1957 at St Patrick's Church. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage and three children.

Elio was employed at Seneca Falls Machine Co. and Westcott Ruler Co. He retired after 25 years as a core maker from Goulds Pumps. In retirement, Elio worked for 17 more years at Tops Market. He was a longtime devoted member of St. Patrick's Parish.

Elio was known by his neighbors as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand and a true jack of all trades. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and growing sunflowers that grew much taller than himself. Elio cherished spending time with his family and friends and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He loved watching television with his two cats, Sunshine and Boozer. Elio will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his unwavering faith and his many acts of kindness throughout his lifetime.

He is survived by his children; Art (Dr. Jennifer) Pluretti, Fran Pluretti, Susanne (John) Cosentino; grandchildren; Anthony Pluretti, Dr. Roseann (Chad) English, Mason Hawker and Jason Duffy; sisters, Susanna Nicolini and Rita DiPasquale; and nieces and nephews; Adrienne (Mike) Berend, Jimmy (Missy) Nicolini, Steve DiPasquale, Joann (John) Benedicks, Diane (Jeremy) Judge and Amy Scaramuzzino.

Besides his parents, Elio was predeceased by his wife; Elizabeth "Betty" Pluretti, brothers/sister-in-law, Vincent DiPasquale, Bruno Nicolini and Dr. Dominic (Rita) Scaramuzzino.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in Elio's memory may be made to: Beverly's Animal Shelter, 50 E River St. Waterloo, N.Y. 13165 or Seneca Falls Football Boosters, 3 Latham St., Seneca Falls, N.Y. 13148.
