Elizabeth Mull Obituary

WATERLOO - Elizabeth M. "Liz" Mull, 87, passed away peacefully Monday evening (June 14, 2010) at Geneva General Hospital with her family by her side.
Friends and family are invited to call from 2 - 5 p.m. on Sunday (June 20) at Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia Street, Waterloo. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday (June 21) in Saint Mary's Church Waterloo. Her son, the Rev. Thomas P. Mull, Pastor of Saint Mary's Church, Canandaigua, will officiate. Burial, with full military honors will follow in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
Liz had requested memorial contributions be directed to either Saint Mary's Church, 25 Center Street, Waterloo, 13165 or DeSales High School, 90 Pulteney Street, Geneva, 14456.
Liz was born on November 5, 1922 in Waterloo, the daughter of the late George and Eliza Hefferon-Hahn. She was a graduate of Saint Mary's School, Waterloo High School and Saint Mary's School of Nursing in Rochester. She served our country in the United States Army from January 8, 1944 to February 19, 1946. She was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal and earned the rank of First Lieutenant. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Taylor Brown Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Saint Mary's Faith Community, the Rosary Altar Society and VFW Post 6433, Waterloo.
Liz will always be remembered as a humble, spiritual person. Her dedication to the Catholic faith was inspirational; she lived her faith daily by example. Though she had many grandchildren and great-children she treated them all like they were the "only" grandchild. She was the matriarch of the Mull family, and will be sadly missed by all who were lucky enough to love her.
Liz is survived by four daughters, Mary P. Hilkert of Waterloo, Catherine A. (John) Venturino of Seneca Falls, Margaret E. (Mark) Palmer of Waterloo and Barbara R. (Steve) Mull of Rochester; five sons, George W. (Nellie) of Waterloo, the Rev. Thomas P. Mull of Canandaigua, John P. (Hannelore), and Joseph H. (Jacqueline), both of Waterloo and William M. (Carleen) of Seneca Falls; 30 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Barbara Robbins of Rushvile, Ind.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Russell V. "John" Mull; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine (Steven) Hudick; and her son-in-law, Kenneth R. Hilkert.

To Jack and Lori, Father Tom, and Mary Mull, and all the Mull family, my sympathies go out to all of you. It was my great priviledge to work under your Mother. She was a great lady, and she treated everyone with respect. She made us all feel important. She was a hard worker, a caring person, and a great nurse. I know what its like to lose a Mother. I especially want to thank Jack for his sense of humor that he had, while I worked with him at Taylor Brown Hospital. He kept me going, and I wouldn't have survived without him. Love always to all of you. Bonnie Riley
