Eloise Pangburn Obituary

GENEVA - Eloise Elaine Smith Pangburn, 100 years old, formerly of 45 Spring Street, passed away Wednesday June 1, 2011 at the Geneva Living Center North.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday (June 3) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home, 45 High St., Geneva. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (June 4) at 10:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Snell Rd., Geneva. Vicar Lexa Liepe will officiate. Burial will be in Bartlett Cemetery Collins, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Geneva Public Library, or a charity of one's choice.
Born on May 3, 1911 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to Walter Jacob and Elizabeth Aurilla Heim Smith, Mrs. Pangburn was raised in the home of her grandparents, John and Alice Bartlett Heim in Collins Center, N.Y. She graduated in 1929 from Collins Center High School and in 1932 from Fredonia Normal School, now called SUNY Fredonia. Prior to her marriage, she was an elementary teacher in the Port Byron Central School System. On June 29, 1940, she married Clifford F. Pangburn in Auburn, N.Y. and they moved to Geneva. Mrs. Pangburn's community activities included volunteer services; Geneva General Hospital, Geneva Center of Concern, and Friends of the Geneva Library. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Pangburn is survived by her family, Nancy (Pangburn) and Charles C. W. Bauder, John C. and Joan (Robinette) Pangburn; grandchildren Melissa (Pangburn) and Michael Lilyea of Penn Yan, Michael J. and Fatine (Ouazzami) Pangburn of New Port Richey, Fla., Christine L. Pangburn of Geneva; and her great-grand-daughter, Elizabeth Anne Lilyea, of Penn Yan, as well as a cousin, Ruth Smith McCormick of Blasdel, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Clifford F. Pangburn, and her brother, Bartlett E. Smith.
