F. Ronald Gifford

1952 - 2022

STANLEY/CLIFTON SPRINGS - It is with utmost sorrow we announce the passing of F. Ronald "Ron" Gifford on Tuesday (July 19, 2022). He died peacefully at the age of 70 with his beloved partner, Caroline, by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday (August 5) at St. John's Episcopal Church, Clifton Springs, N.Y. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery. R.A. Patrick Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.

Ron was born in Clifton Springs on July 2, 1952. He graduated from Clifton Springs High School in 1970. Mr. Gifford graduated from the State University of New York at Geneseo with a Bachelors of Science Degree in 1974 and was accepted into Buffalo General Hospital School of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) in 1975. Before his federal employment he worked in both public and private sector health care systems and in a research institute. He held the position of Laboratory Manager for over 15 years at the Canandaigua VAMC and co-authored and published a number of scientific papers. He further advanced his federal career working in Performance Management, and thereafter as a Health Systems Specialist under three Medical Center Directors at the Canandaigua VAMC. In 2003 he became a Certified Security Practitioner (CSP) as the Information Security Officer (ISO) aligned under the Office of Information Technology, Office of Cyber Information Security out of Washington, DC. He retired after 34 years of federal service.

Ron enjoyed nature, painting, music, collecting antiques, taking an occasional hunting trip, kayaking, and avocational archeology. Most of all he enjoyed the love of his life, his family and the bounty of goodness bestowed upon him by the same.

Ron leaves behind a beloved life partner and kindred spirit, Caroline Kennedy, of Stanley; a son, Matthew Clementi (Jen) Gifford, of Albany; a daughter, Lindsay Marie Gifford (Matthew) Alvut, of Rochester; a sister, Linda G (Larry) Goss, of Ariz.; he also is survived by five grandchildren; aunt, cousins and a host of friends, which includes John (Kate) Driscoll of Idaho, all of whom were much loved.

Ron was predeceased by his parents, Frederick Loren Gifford and Verna Alice Shekell Gifford.
