Frances Wickham Obituary

OVID NY/FORT MEYERS, Fla.– Frances Bradley Wickham, 96, passed away peacefully in the care of her loving family on May 8, 2023 in Fort Myers, Florida.

Fran was born in Jamaica, Long Island, NY April 30 1927. At the age of twelve, due to the great depression, her family relocated to Ovid, NY where she stayed through the majority of her adult life.

Fran was the daughter of Frank and Madeline Bradley and had two siblings; John and James.

While attending Ovid Central High School Fran met the love of her life, Keith Wickham. They married April 26, 1946 and spent 47 very happy years together until Keith's passing in 1993.

After attending Rochester Business Institute, Fran worked along side her husband in the family business, "Wickham's Auction Service", originally a live stock business and eventually a household auction service. Fran and Keith produced four boys; Randall, Bradley, Jack and Jeff. A devoted wife and mother, Fran always declared her greatest accomplishment was raising her four boys and watching them grow into men, establishing their own families.

Fran and Keith bought a home in Lakeland, Fl. in 1984 where they spent winters. In 1994, following Keith's passing, Fran relocated to Ft. Myers to be closer to two of her sons and enjoyed the next 30 years watching their families grow.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Fran is survived by her four sons, Randall (Patty), Brad (Jeannie), Jack, and Jeff (Nancy); grandchildren, Kelsey Vest, Nicole Jackson, John Wickham, Chris Wickham, Holly Wickham and Jesse Wickham; great grandchildren, Ayden Vest, Brooke Jackson, Brady Jackson and Jameson Wickham; and her brother John Bradley.

I spent several summers as a teenager living with Fran, Keith and their boys at their Elm Beach cottage taking care of the boys. So many great memories - Fran's spaghetti and meatballs, for one. My love for reading started with her as she always had a good book for me to read. My thoughts and prayers are with all the Wickham family.

I have fond memories of Fran when I was younger. The summers at the cottage hold dear to my heart. My thoughts and prayer to her family

Let me extend my condolences to the Wickham family. Mr. & Mrs. Wickham were both known as pillars of the Ovid community who raised four great sons, all of whom I consider as friends. I didn't know the parents (Fran and Keith) nearly as well as the boys whom I grew up with but enough to know what fine people they both were. Kind and friendly and simply real decent folks. I want to personally state my deepest sympathy to Randy, Brad, Jack, and Jeff and all of their family. Sending peace and love your way!

Sorry to hear of Fran's passing. I always enjoyed talking with her, especially about the books she read and encouraged me to read. A very special person. May she rest in peace.

Brad, Randy, Jack and Jeff and Family. Fran and Keith and your family where models for so many families as we grew up in Ovid. Always welcomed your friends when we hung out in the 60's. I must share that your Mom made the best egg salad sandwich I've ever had, and everytime I eat one I think of the Wickham's. Sorry for your loss, may the wonderful memories of your Mom comfort you in this time
