Francesco Nicoletta Obituary

CLYDE - Francesco "Frank" Nicoletta, 63, died Monday (October 4, 2010) in the company of his loving wife and children.
Family and friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 8) at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W. Genesee St., Clyde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Oct. 9) at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Clyde. The Rev. Augustine Chumo and Deacon Greg Kiley will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Clyde.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. John Memorial Fund, 114 Sodus St., Clyde, 14433.
Frank was born on April 10, 1947, in Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, Italy. He was the son of the late Carmine and Maria (Castellano) Nicoletta. His construction roots began in 1963 when he left Italy and moved to Switzerland where he worked as a head engineer assistant during the construction of the Zurich International airport for a German based construction company. In 1966 he immigrated to the United States (Clyde) and became an American citizen. When Frank arrived in the U.S., he spoke very little English and had only received a modest education in Italy, however, he refused to allow these barriers to be a deterrent.
Frank knew that America would be the place where he could realize his dream, and through hard work and determination anything was possible.
In 1972 he started Frank Nicoletta Building and Remodeling that grew over the years and incorporated in 1996 which became known as Nicoletta Building Contractors, Inc. becoming the largest bonded commercial construction company in the area. Some of his construction projects include: major capital school improvement projects, fire departments, daycare centers, public libraries, municipal projects, multi-senior citizen housing projects, medical centers, NYS State police barracks and government office buildings.
During his 40 year career as a general contractor, he took great pride in his business with the satisfaction of knowing that his name was associated with the construction of many quality buildings and custom homes built throughout the Central New York area. His business and legacy continues and has been passed down to his sons.
Throughout his life, Frank found great love in his wife, and joy in his children and grandchildren. Frank enjoyed spending time on his property in Clyde taking care of his pond, gardening and playing golf with his sons.
Frank had been a member of the Saint John Church Holy Name Society, Lions Club and the Clyde Chamber of Commerce.
Frank is survived by his wife of 43 years, Maria Nicoletta of Clyde; his sons: Frank (Bernadette) Nicoletta Jr., Anthony (Shelly) Nicoletta and Gerardo "Jerry" Nicoletta, all of Clyde; his daughters: Diana (Mark) Fowler of Clyde, Adriana (Stephen) Kulakowski of Victor and Anna Rose (Jeff) Miller of Seneca Falls; his grandchildren: Nicholas, Michael and Alexander Fowler of Clyde, Nicolette, Calista, Stephen and Jakob Kulakowski of Victor, Marissa and Vincent Nicoletta of Clyde, Alexa, Bianca, Ava and Mario Nicoletta of Clyde and Sophia Miller of Seneca Falls; his sisters: Anna (Angelo) Gregorio of Brookville, L.I., Maria (Joe) Dellostritto of Auburn and Antonia (Nunzio) Montemarano of Astoria; brothers: Arcangelo (Maria) Nicoletta of Glen Cove, L.I., Michael (Antonietta) Nicoletta of Clyde and Pietro (Assuntina) Nicoletta of Long Island City, L.I.
Frank was predeceased by his brothers: Rocco Nicoletta, Angelo "Gulino" Nicoletta and Rosario Nicoletta of Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, Italy and Vito Nicoletta of Pisa, Italy.
"He was the center of our family and will be greatly missed. We love you Papa."

I just heard of Frank's passing. I want to send Frank Jr. and his entire family my sincere sympathy. It was a pleasure to work with Frank during 2003 & 2004 when Frank and his crew were working on the rehabilitation of the historic Aldrich Change Bridge in Aqueduct Park. Frank did a magnificent job with constructing the large stone abutments that the bridge sits on today. His personality and "wit" were just a couple of Frank's great attributes. Again, my deepest condolence to the Nicoletta family.

Maria and family...Reading obituaries is always a difficult thing to do. Today we made one of our infrequent visits to Al Baris' funeral home site and we sat for a moment in disbelief. It's not supposed to happen, it can't have happened...so much raced through our minds. We am sure our thoughts have been shared by all who knew Frank and anything we could say about him, his life, his love of family and the massive number of lives he touched while living the life our Holy Father gave him would still not sufficiently cover the expression of sorrow his passing deserves. We believe his soul is now joined with family amd friends who went before him...in the hands of God. Caroline and I are proud to have known Frank and will remember him as we pray our daily Rosary. Our prayers are with you.

We were so sorry to learn that Frank had passed. He will surely be missed by many. He was one of the best neighbors that anyone could have. He always was willing to stop and talk and joke around. Nobody could ask for a better man that worked hard both in his job and his family life. Our hearts, prayers, and thoughts go out to the family. Jim & Connie DeLeo

I was deeply saddened when i heard about Frank. I've been dealing with Frank for 20 years as an outside salesman for Erie Materials. He was always nice to me and we had fun in the old days figuring out materials he needed for his various projects. His work was always the best and he put up some beautiful buildings along the way. All of us here at Erie Materials carry a heavy heart for Frank and we wish the best for the family. His legacy will carry on with his boys now and the quality of work will continue in Frank's name.

My heart goes out to the family and friends of a wonderful man and a good friend. Rest assured that once Frank has his family reunion in Heaven he will be looking for his crew to continue his work rebuilding the gates for St. Peter!

I was very saddened to hear of Franks passing,I did not know him a very long time. however during that period when his co. built our new building he and all his crew were outstanding.
When I first met Frank he was tough but soon he became a person whom you could rely on to tell you the truth and make sure things were done right.
It was a privaledge to have known him and I am sure if anything needs to be built in Heaven that when Saint Peter opens the door to the job trailer Frank will ask why him why he's late.
May God bless you Frank and all of your family.

You were truly a blessing in all our lives, I remember growing up across the street from you and your family, and visiting, and watching you hard worker in the garden. Going to church, and walking with your girls to school. My brother Sean would play and hang out with Anthony, and Maria was always cooking something nice, working outside in the yard, visit with my parents. I admire your hard work, and the way you would build homes, and retirement homes, very beautiful. God Bless you, and be at peace. My prayers go out to your family, and dear friends.

I had the pleasure of working with your father on several building projects at Williamson-Sodus Airport. Frank Sr. was the most honest and hard working contractor I had the pleasure to work with during the last 25 years. If Frank saw something in the design that could be improved, he just went ahead and did it "better" without asking for additional money because he insisted on teh highest quality. I will miss also his firm handshake.

I know the business is in good hands with Frank Jr., as he embodies many of the same qualities as his father. We lost a great man.

I am going to miss the stories about the old country, the invaluable advice Dad always had to offer, and the trips Pennsylvania around 4th of July time. His number one priority was always family, and made sure that all the kids and grandkids would be at the house for birthdays, holidays and special occasions.

He is truly one of a kind, and I can only hope to carry on his legacy in a fraction of the way he did it. He did everything with class, and was forthright in how he communicated with everyone. In the time that I knew Dad, he had such a positive influence on me and I learned hard work and determination can be difference between success and failure. Those life lessons will be with me forever. Rest in peace Dad, you have earned it.

I had the privilege to work on several small projects with Frank and the guys. He was a great man, probably under-appreciated for his many good deeds and great projects in our area. This entire area was enriched because of his works. He will be missed but I am confident the family will carry the tradition onward. Our prayers have been with you this week.

Wayne County, the Village of Clyde and all surrounding towns and villages have lost a great man. Frank was dedicated and hard working and took pride in doing the job right. I had the good fortune of knowing Frank for many years and the privilege of working with him on many projects in the Village of Lyons. Frank brought us Aldi's, Family Dollar, NYS Police Barracks, and the Leach Road Professional Bulidings. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My condolences to the family. John Salone

We are so sorry to hear of Frank's passing! Having left NY fourteen years ago I always tried to connect with him when visiting Clyde. Whenever Frank had difficulties getting NYSEG to connect utilities to his structures, he always knew he could call me for assistance. I was more than glad to do what I could and we typically resolved the problem. Frank always mentioned that in the years after I left NYSEG to move to North Carolina thanking me time and time again. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with your entire family but especially Maria and his children. He was always so proud of what each of you have accomplished and continue to do. We wish we could be there to convey our thoughts to you personally but please know that all of you will be in our prayers and thoughts. God bless...
