Gayle Marie Carey

1938 - 2021

WATERLOO - Our beloved Gayle Carey, 82, passed away Saturday (July 3, 2021) at her home.

Friends and family are invited to her graveside service at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday (July 14) in Maple Grove Cemetery. A celebration of life will continue at the Seneca Falls Elks Lodge, 2221 West Bayard Street, Seneca Falls.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be directed to The American Cancer Society, 1120 Goodman St. South, Rochester, NY 14620, or the charity of your choice.

Gayle was born October 17, 1938 in Fayette, N.Y. the daughter of the late Morris B. and Ethel M. (Williams) Olschewske. She was a 1956 graduate of Waterloo High School. For over 20 years she worked for the Waterloo School District as a cafeteria and bus monitor and an elementary school math aide.

Most of those who had the pleasure of meeting Gayle, even if only once, would say it was an encounter they wouldn't forget. There was never a dull moment with her. She could fill a room with laughter from her big personality and quick witted tongue. We could count on her for her honesty and to make light of any situation. She truly left a lasting impression wherever she went.

She is survived by her daughters Lori Marie Thillman and Lisa (Dan Trickler) Kuney; grandchildren LukeMorris James and LilyEthel Marie, "Valentine" Thillman, Samantha Kuney and Quincy Trickler; her brothers Gary and Marty (Ruth) Olschewske; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many friends in N.Y. and in Fla., including "The Six Pack"; and a special friend, Jim.

Gayle is predeceased by her husband, Richard; a brother, Kenneth Olschewske; and a sister-in-law, Dianne Olschewske.
