James Hey Obituary
Friends may call Thursday (Feb. 18th) from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kenneth J. Perkins Funeral Home in Gorham. A Memorial Service will be held Friday (Feb. 19th) at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church in Rushville. The Rev. Dr. Edward Kennedy will officiate. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Rd. North, Rochester 14610-0609 or the National Kidney Foundation Serving Upstate New York, 15 Prince St., Rochester 14607-1495.
Jim was born in Canandaigua. He was a 1975 graduate of Marcus Whitman Central School. On May 22, 1977, Jim married Laurie Elwell in the Middlesex United Methodist Church. He was the Water and Sewer Department Supervisor for the Village of Penn Yan for 23 years.
Jim was a member of the Penn Yan Moose Club, the Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club, the Middlesex Conservation Club, the Harley Owners Group, and the NY State Steam Engine Association. Jim collected coins and old toys; and had enjoyed coaching youth basketball. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife, Laurie; three children, Clinton James (Winsome) Hey, Alaina Adelaide (Matthew) Willson, and Bennett Charles Hey; one granddaughter, Arissa Laurie Rena Hey; his parents, Kenneth and Sonia Flynn Hey; one brother, Jeff (Robin) Hey; two sisters, Jill (Casey) Ripley and Joy (John) Schnupp; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

I'm so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. We were neighbors and good pals from very early on, and although we eventually went our separate ways, I've always remembered him as friendly, fun loving, and kind. I wish the best for Laurie and all his extended family.

There's just nothing else to say, other than I'm terribly, terribly sorry for the loss of Jim. Laurie, Tim and I were both really saddened when we learned the news and our hearts go out to you and your children.
