James Horton Obituary

ORMOND BEACH, FL/ SENECA FALLS– James "Jim" Horton, formerly of Seneca Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 in Ormond Beach, FL. Per Jim's wishes, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of cards and flowers, the family asks that you please consider donating to a local animal shelter or animal rescue in Jim's name.

Jim was born on May 31, 1954. He was the son of the late Robert E. and Wanda J. (Broderick) Horton of Seneca Falls.

Jim was a 1972 graduate of Mynderse Academy, and a 1977 graduate of Niagara University. He worked for more than 30 years as a real estate agent, including over 25 with Senecayuga Properties in Seneca Falls.

Besides real estate, Jim was involved in his local community, serving on the United Way board and coaching youth sports in Seneca Falls, and when he and his wife moved to Geneva, serving on the chamber of commerce.

While Jim spent time in Florida and the Washington, DC area after high school and college, he spent most of his life in the Finger Lakes, an area he loved calling home. He had recently retired to Florida with his wife.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Susan; daughter, Jennifer, of Philadelphia, PA; son, Matthew, of Charleston, SC; four-legged son, Mick, of Ormond Beach, FL; brother, Jeffery (Carol) Horton of Virginia Beach, VA, and sister, Susan (Jeff Lok) Horton of Oswego, NY; brother-in-law, Peter Snyder, of Seneca Falls, NY; several nieces and a nephew; and his very close friends since childhood Rick, John, Charlie, and Eric.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Timothy Snyder.
