James Stoops Obituary

GENEVA – James "Jamie" Edward Stoops, age 46, passed away September 13 following a nearly seven year battle with brain cancer.

Born in Newark, Jamie graduated from DeSales High School, and Finger Lakes Community College with a degree in computer science. For many years, he enjoyed working for the Geneva City School District in the IT department. He loved helping people, movies, and art. He was known for his friendship and big smile. He enjoyed walking, often seven or eight miles to the lake, or on nature trails.

He was predeceased by his father, James R. Stoops; and his aunt, Nancy (Stoops, Pulver) Chapman.

He is survived by his mother, Vicki (Ronald George) Stoops-George; his brothers, Ryan Stoops and Daniel (Laura Gaylord) Stoops. Also survived by nephews, Derek and Connor Stoops; and several aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff and hospice staff at the Highlands at Brighton, and the Wilmot Cancer Center, for the support and care given to him.

A Celebration of Life will be held for the family.

Prayers and love to y´all. Jamie was a grade ahead of me in DeSales. He was a good friend with one of the most kind souls I´ve ever known.
Rest easy friend.

Vicki, I'm so sorry to hear of Jamie's passing. I know the grief and loss of losing a child. Kristin has been gone 5 years and I miss her everyday. I can't tell you it gets easier, but life is different. Keep your memories and good times close. That will get you through. Sending prayers to you and your family.

Vicki, I was saddened to read about your son, Jamie. It has been a lot of years since we have seen each other, but I remember your family well. I'm so sorry that you lost your son, and may your bright memories of him bring you comfort in this time of sadness. My very best to you and your family. Kathy

My deepest condolences. I´m so sad to hear of Jamie´s passing. He was a year ahead of me in high school and I have fond memories of some classes we were in together. You´re in my thoughts during this time.
