Joan Gilbert Obituary
There will be no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday (Nov. 24) at 10 a.m. at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas P. Mull will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish 130 Exchange St., Geneva, N.Y.
Joan was born on January 6, 1936, in Geneva, the daughter of the late A. Richard and Frances Ward Clarke. She graduated from Geneva High School and received her bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College.
Joan was a lifelong resident of Geneva. She started working for Kodak for several years and went on to being a technician with NYS Experimental Station until her retirement. She was a member of St. Francis Church and was devoted to her children and grandchildren.
She enjoyed playing cards, a good game of scrabble, baking and family days at our cottage. Joan also requested that everyone wears bright colors to the funeral, she doesn't want it to be a sad event but rather a celebration of her wonderful life.
Joan is survived by her daughters; Brenda G. (Marc) Baker of Seneca Falls and Lynne (Frederick) Shelley of Pittsford. Grandchildren; Kaitlyn (Michael) Nardozzi, Brandi Healy, Elizabeth Shelley and Adam Shelley. Great grandchildren; Isabella Nardozzi and Gianna Nardozzi.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward M. Gilbert and a sister; Judith Rooney.

To Joan's family, Joan always had the beautiful smile even in the worst of times. Just recently at Church she had that wonderful smile. She was a great lady.

Condolences to Joan's family. I remember her fondly, as she and Ed lived in an apt at my Uncle's house. She always had a smile!!!
