Joseph W. "Jiggs" Petrucci

SENECA FALLS - Joseph W. "Jiggs" Petrucci, 99, and just a few months short of his 100th birthday, passed after a brief illness on Saturday, November 15th, 2025.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 20th from 4–7 p.m. at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 21st at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 97 West Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Interment, with full military honors will follow at St. Columbkille Cemetery, where he will join his late wife, Jennie, in eternal rest.

Jiggs was born in Geneva, N.Y., son of the late Guisseppe and Mary (Rollo) Petrucci. In June of 1944, he graduated from Geneva High School and immediately joined the US Army during World War II. He was sent overseas, where he saw action, and fought alongside many brave men at the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during this battle. In 1946, he returned home from Europe.

On November 13th, 1948, he married Jennie Sinicropi, and the couple shared 65 wonderful years together until Jennie's passing in 2014.

Jiggs retired from Goulds Pumps where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club and was one of the four Legends of Goulds. During his career at Goulds, he was the plant newspaper editor, held the title of recreation director, and was very involved with public relations. His ties to Goulds allowed him to be instrumental in paving the way for Vince's Park to become what it is today for the Seneca Falls community.

Sports, especially bowling and golf, were part of Jiggs' life from an early age. During his teenage years, he caddied at Seneca Lake Country Club, which lead to him starting the first golf team at Geneva High in 1943. His health allowed him to play golf the majority of his life, amassing 8 hole-in-ones over the years, and winning many club championships at both Seneca Falls Country Club and Seneca Lake Country Club. He also started the weekly Goulds League at Seneca Falls Country Club. In addition to his passion for golf, Jiggs was an early investor in Finger Lakes Bowl in Seneca Falls. In 1998 he was inducted into the Geneva High Sports Hall of Fame.

Jiggs was a lifetime member of St. Patrick's Church, Rumseyville Sportsmen's Club, the SMS Lodge, Kirk Casey American Legion Post, Seneca Falls Country Club, Sons of Italy Lodge in Geneva, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and was previously the director of United Way campaigns in Seneca County.

After retiring, and for several years, he spent his summers in Seneca Falls and his winters in the warm sun of West Palm Beach, Florida. As a result, he was able to play golf year round.

Jiggs is survived by countless nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins, and a large extended family. In addition to his parents and wife, Jennie, Jiggs was predeceased by his son, Joseph Petrucci III; brother, Anthony Petrucci; sisters, Helen Marribitt and Jennie French.
