Linda MacPherson Obituary

WATERLOO - Linda Sue MacPherson, 62, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (March 5, 2025) at her home.

In keeping with the wishes of the family, the funeral service will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Linda's honor to Agri-Business Child Development at abcdny.org.

Linda was born November 8, 1962 in Scranton, PA, the daughter of Neal and Beth MacPherson. She received a Bachelor's degree in social work from Nazareth College, in Pittsford, NY and went on to work as a family community coordinator for P.E.A.C.E in Syracuse, N.Y.

Linda is survived by sons Javaloa (Kayla) Newport of Newark, N.Y. and Sammy Newport of Rochester, N.Y.; daughters Angeleke Newport of Solvay, N.Y. and Angelica Newport of Syracuse, N.Y.; 9 grandchildren; brother Scott (Brenda) MacPherson of Charlottesville, VA; sister Lisa (Paul) Jacobsmeyer of Manassas, VA; her parents; aunt Anne (Gordon) Learn of NC; 2 cousins; and a niece and nephew.

I serve on the Board of ABCD and have known Linda since 2015. During Federal Reviews of the ABCD Program, Linda and I would often wind up on the phone call with someone from the Federal Review Team. She always made me braver and smarter. She will be missed by the members of the Board of ABCD.
