Louis Lorenzetti Obituary

SENECA FALLS - Louis A. Lorenzetti, lifelong resident of Seneca Falls, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, just three days after celebrating his 94th birthday. Calling hours are Monday, September 22 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 23 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 97 West Bayard St., Seneca Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to North Seneca Ambulance at northsenecaambulance.com or to Beverly Animal Shelter at beverlyanimalshelter.com

Louis was born in Seneca Falls, son of the late Ernesto and Ambrosina (Pluretti) Lorenzetti. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic School and Mynderse Academy, where he graduated with the class of 1952. Shortly after graduating, he was drafted into the US Army, where he served during the Korean War as Sergeant First Class and was discharged in 1954. A few years later, he took advantage of the GI Bill and went to Morrisville State College, graduating with his associates degree in 1957. In 1958, he started working for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier, which would become a 30-year career for him. On August 13, 1960, he was united in marriage with Noreen (Ellis) Lorenzetti. Unfortunately, their time was cut short, Noreen passed in1996.

After retiring, Lou found a few different ways to stay busy. He became a trustee for the former village of Seneca Falls for several years, and also was a crossing guard at Cady Stanton School. In addition, he was a longtime member of the Seneca Falls Elks Lodge 992, the Kirk Casey American Legion Post 366, the SMS, and a lifelong parishioner of St. Patrick's Church.

Lou enjoyed being outdoors and being active. He loved to hunt and fish, meticulously tended to his vegetable garden, and he especially loved golfing, particularly during the winter months in Florida. He and his longtime companion, and recent bride, Genevieve Giovannetti, for the last 29 years, have spent their summers in Seneca Falls and their winters in sunny Florida. Family was also important for Lou. Since 1972 Lou and his family have spent the summers at their cottage on Cayuga Lake. They have gathered on Sundays for family dinner; where many memories were made and much love was shared.

Louis is survived by his wife, Genevieve; children, Michael (fiancé, Jennifer Ree) Lorenzetti, Elizabeth (Paul) Caratozzolo, Christopher (Lynette) Lorenzetti, Carrie (Joel) Herrling; four grandchildren, Stephen (Kim) Caratozzolo, Nicole (Jerad) Campbell, Nathan and Elliott Herrling; four great-grandchildren, Brelyn and Luca Caratozzolo, and Madelyn and Lochlan Campbell; and sister, Anna Wilkes. Lou is also survived by Genevieve's family, her children; Francis (Meg) Giovannetti, Stephen Giovannetti, Elizabeth (Robert) Campbell, Margaret (Aviv) Ben-Or; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family from the Lorenzetti, Giovanetti, and Ellis families.

In addition to Noreen, Louis is predeceased by his brother, Carlo Lorenzetti, and sisters, Sylvia Moio and Gena Kabat.

Lou's family would like to extend a very heartfelt "Thank You" to the staff at Geneva General Hospital for their exceptional and comforting care of Lou during this difficult time.
