Mark John Hotchkiss

1967 - 2022

MANCHESTER - The family of Mark John Hotchkiss, age 54, are deeply saddened to say that he passed away at home on Saturday (January 15, 2022).

In keeping with his wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of life.

Friends may contribute to the American Heart Association in Mark's memory.

Mark was born on July 20, 1967, the son of Barbara Dewey and the late John Hotchkiss. Mark grew up in Clifton Springs, N.Y., where he enjoyed riding his bike, swimming in his Grandma Jo's pool, and following his big brother Joe around town. Due to his father's job, Mark relocated to Fairbanks, Alaska for a few years and then Hawaii, before returning to N.Y. to attend high school at Midlakes. Mark spent many years working in construction. He was a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills. He had a love for nature and especially enjoyed camping, hiking, traveling, and going to festivals. Mark listened to many different types of music, but was truly fond of the Grateful Dead. He was artistic and would let his creativity flow whenever he had the urge. Mark was known for his egg pancakes, S.O.S., and holiday sticky buns. But most important to Mark was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mark is survived by his former wife and forever friend, Michelle (Shelly) Hotchkiss; children, Ashley (Andrew) Gerlock, John (Jessica) Hotchkiss, and Timothy (Julyanna) Hotchkiss; grandchildren, Aiden Gerlock, Aria Gerlock, Alexander Gerlock, Isabella Hotchkiss, Parker Hotchkiss, Shiloh Hotchkiss, and Janae Hotchkiss; sister, Alicia (Ryan) Billings; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mark was predeceased by his father, John W. Hotchkiss; brother, Joseph Hotchkiss; and grandparents, George and Josephine (Frantz) Hotchkiss and Alvin and Doris (Case) Dewey.
