Marvin Koek Obituary


PENN YAN - Marvin Koek, age 82, died peacefully with family at his side at Strong Memorial Hospital on July 24th, due to injuries sustained in a fall several days before. Calling hours will be held at Weldon's Funeral Home, 102 E. Main St.,, Penn Yan on Friday (July 26) from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Saturday (July 27) at 2 p.m. at the Milo Center Methodist Church.
Memorial donations may be made to the Keuka Comfort care Home and the Milo Center Methodist Church.
After serving in the Korean War, Marvin returned home to Penn Yan, married, started a family and soon began a lifetime of farming, with his own dairy and cash crop farms, and then by assisting his daughters and son-in-laws on their farms. He was an active member of the Danish Brotherhood Lodge and served his community in many ways including the Penn Yan Volunteer Ambu lance Corps, a lifetime of blood donations and most recently by his service to Meals-on-Wheels, the Keuka Comfort Care Home and the Milo Center Meth odist Church. Over the years Marvin particularly enjoyed boating, motorcycling, traveling extensively in the US and beyond with Mildred, family cook-outs at the "Paradise" log cabin he constructed himself, and whenever possible spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and great- grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 60 years, Mildred; children, Norman (Adell) Koek, Kevin (Laurie) Koek, Karen (Dale) Hallings and Susan (Dave) Andersen; sisters Agnes Debolt and Elsie Hemminger; grandchildren Chris (Lindsey) Koek, Jennifer (Dave) Bellis, Ryan (Christine) Hallings, Kerry (Damon) Brennan, Brandon and Garrett Koek, Kristen, Heather, Kayla and Morgan Andersen; and great-grandchildren Aubrey and Owen Koek and Brynlee Brennan.
He is predeceased by his parents, Chresten and Johanna; and brother Glen.

Mildred We just learned of Marvs passing He was such a hard working man and always so kind. I have wonderful memories as a little girl always being on the farm and oh how we loved the farm house.Please Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you. Dear Mildred and family:
I was so sorry to hear of Marv's death and your family and you are all in our prayers for peace and comfort. Marv made a difference not only in his personal life but in community, church and beyond. The Lord had blessed him with many talents and gifts and he found ways to use them for the good of all. His life was a blessing to many.
