Mary Al was born on May 31, 1930, in Yonkers, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles Glenn Winger and Caroline Green Winger. She graduated from Wells College in Aurora NY in 1952. While working as a waitress at the Bankers Restaurant on the shores of Cayuga Lake, she met her future husband, Herbert Dickson, and married him on July 19, 1952.

Mary Alice was a diligent Bible student and became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1969. She loved nature, birds, the ocean, and sailing. She had a vibrant, lively personality and was fond of talking to and entertaining others. She was a hard worker, known to be generous with her time, energy, and resources. She enjoyed travel, and attended International Conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses in Puerto Rico, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, France, Germany, and Trinidad and Tobago. After her husband's retirement in 1985, they spent 18 years traveling throughout the United States in a motorhome.

She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Kenneth) McCarthy of Savannah, N.Y. and Diane Dickson of Seneca Falls, N.Y.; son, David (Judith Abraham) Dickson of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nephews, a niece and cousins.

Besides her parents and her stepmother, Gretchen Winger, Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Herbert F. Dickson, who passed away March 11, 2017; her brothers, Robert Winger and Richard Winger; and her sister, Sharon Hyde.
