Michael Depew Obituary
According to Mike's wishes there will be no calling hours or services.
Mike was born on April 23, 1939 in Ithaca, to the late Chauncey and Bernice (Mogle) Depew. He is a graduate of Ovid Central High School, class of 1957 and Cortland State Teacher's College.
He loved spending time with family and friends, going on cruises and golfing. He inspired us all to be our best selves and live life to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of 61 years; three daughters, Michelle Katzman of Palm City, Fla., Kym Bell of St. Lucie, Fla. and Karen Maxwell (Chris) of Painted Post, N.Y.; brother, Peter Depew (Doris) of Ovid, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Aaron Katzman (Nicole), Michael Bell, Samantha Bell, Jackie Bell, Benjamin Maxwell and Harrison Maxwell; two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Violet Katzman; Mike is also survived by cousins, Walter Depew (Jane) of Lodi, N.Y., Patricia (Depew) Guinan of Ovid, N.Y. and Debra (Depew) Warner (David) of LaFayette, N.Y.
Besides his parents, Mike was predeceased by a son-in-law, Eric Katzman.
Brewer & Sons Funeral Homes & Cremation of Spring Hill, Florida were in charge of arrangements.

I just became aware of Mike's passing and I am sending you, his family, my deepest thoughts of love and true aloha. Mike and I were house mates on Stevens St. for most of our college careers at Cortland until he married. Because I left the NY area to begin my career in Hawaii and then Peace Corps in Pakistan, our communication broke down but I never really stopped thinking about Mike, the fun we had at college, the sports we played against each other in high school-Ovid vs Romulus and the surprise we both had when he realized we were going to live together while at Cortland. As high school rivals we were having to bury those competitive ways and figure out how to support each other.We shared many fun times together and were kept on the straight and narrow by Mrs O'Connor who rented our rooms to us. I know that Mike went on to do well at Dansville. Please know that I shall always recall Mike as one of my true first friends with nothing by loving and positive memories. I reside in Anacortes, WA, San Juan Islands.
