Michael Moore Obituary
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends and extended family are invited to attend a Celebration of Michael's life beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday (April 11) at the Penn Yan Elk's Lodge, 133 Main St., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Michael's memory to Main Line Animal Rescue, PO Box 89, Chester Springs, PA 19425, Heritage Sports, 1886 Melvin Hill Rd., Phelps, NY 14532, or to the Branchport Rod & Gun Club, 3601 Armstrong Rd., Branchport, NY 14418.
Michael was born in Canandaigua, N.Y., on August 8th, 1977, the son of Michael Moore and Linda Shinozawa. He attended Penn Yan Academy and worked as an electrician for his father at Moore Plumbing and Heating. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved archery, hunting and fishing.
Michael is survived by his wife, Meghan L. (Hoban) Moore; son, Nathan Moore; father, Michael (Kathy) Moore; step brother, Steven (Sara) Culver; mother, Linda L. Shinozawa; mothers-in-law, Elizabeth (Jerry) Masters and Annette Hoban; brothers-in-law, Sean (Lori) Hoban and Ryan Hoban; niece and nephews, Eva and Matthew Culver, and Benjamin and Nathan Hoban; siblings, Tonya Parotta, Aaron, Asher, and Taylor Adelstein; and his loving canine companions, Otis, Olive, and Budgie.

Mike was my student at Wayne finger lakes BOCES. I watched him through his trials and tribulations as a teenager and watched and heard of his many successes as an adult.... You came a long way in this world and so many were so proud of your accomplishments.. Rest in peace, young man...

MJ, my heart caught in my throat when I heard your name. We met for the first time at the Porter house and that was always where our paths crossed when we were visiting Angie and Jay. We weren't just friends of theirs - we were always treated like members of the family. Our paths always crossed there - not a day went by when we weren't running in and out of the house or watching movies in the living room or drinking Adirondack soda and grape fizzies, and always sharing a lot of laughter and teasing. And even though you teased me A LOT, I know that you had a good heart. I know that mine is not the only heavy heart right now but I hope memories of your laugh, your sense of humor and your trademark grin give those hearts comfort as much as they do me.

I have been thinking about my dear friend MJ. We shared the same last name and were in the same class, and in a small town like PY that doesn't happen too often unless you are related. But me & MJ were not related by blood or marriage. We shared homerooms and locker space often. I don't know how many times we both were asked if we were related, but I do know that MJ never said anything mean about anybody questioning. That is what I will always remember about MJ, no matter how "popular" he was, he never looked down on anybody and always took the time to say hi. To me MJ's heart was bigger than his smile, and if you knew MJ, that was pretty damn big. Until we meet again my friend Moore, Michael Moore, I will never forget your kindness. I knew MJ as a kid. We lived across the street on Burns Terrace. He was playful and funny and great to be around. When I hear his name, I see that great big grin he wore. I am so sorry.
