Randy M. McComb

OVID - Randy M. McComb, age 71, formerly of Main Street, died at Cayuga Ridge Nursing Center in Ithaca on Monday (Apr 18).
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday (Apr 22) at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 Main Street, Ovid, and a Memorial Service will then follow at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., officiated by The Rev. Diane Walker of the Ovid Federated Church. Interment will be held at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery upon its opening later this year.

Randy was born in Ovid on October 9, 1939, a son of the late Edwin C. and Abbie E. (Barton) McComb. He was a graduate of Interlaken High School, class of 1958. He served his country in the US Marine Corps, and worked as a captain on a fishing boat in Florida. He then returned to New York and began work at Lakeside Nursing Home in Ithaca, after just a few years there, he then took a job at Willard Psychiatric Center, where he remained until his retirement in 1995.
Randy is survived by a son, James McComb of Avon; his siblings, Gerald (Florence) McComb of Ovid, Rebecca (Roy) Sundquist-Lux of Wilsey­ville, his twin brother, Russel (Julie) McComb of Ovid, and Mary Ellen Houghtalen of Interlaken; several nieces and nephews, to include Douglas and Lolita McComb that were so helpful to him at Lakeside Nursing Home. Randy was preceded in death by his infant daughters, Penny and Georgia, a sister, Betty Johnson, and by a brother, Richard McComb.
