Raymond MacDougal Obituary

WATERLOO - Raymond Lloyd MacDougal, 95, passed away Thursday, Dec 4, 2025, at home with family by his side.

Raymond was born June 3, 1930, in Caribou, MA, the son of Merle James and Lucy Etta Stitham. In Raymond's early years, he spent time raising potatoes and serving in the US Marine Corps, marrying his wife, Vera, and receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University. Raymond went on to teach agriculture and biology at Waterloo and Marcus Whitman school districts. On June 18, 1961, Raymond started Mac's Drive In restaurant in Waterloo, N.Y., alongside his brother Gerald and their wives, Vera and Cathy. In 1984, Raymond, his wife Vera, and many family members, built Raymond's winter home in Marathon, FL where he spent every winter until his passing. Besides enjoying and entertaining guests at his Marathon home he also enjoyed flying his airplane (got his pilot's license at 18), boating, fishing, happy hour with Gerald and Cathy, as well as traveling the world.

Raymond is survived by his son Raymond Lloyd MacDougal Jr; grandchildren Branden Ruscitto, Shenandoah Spross-Charette and Bryantt Spross; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife Vera Habberfield MacDougal; daughter Linda; and siblings Merle, Joyce, Dale, Richard, and Gerald.

In keeping with the families wishes, there will be no services at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 10727, Rochester, N.Y., 14610.
