Richard F. "Dick" Everts, Sr.

LODI - Richard F. "Dick" Everts Sr, age 73, of 9468 Lodi Center Road, died on Wednesday (December 24, 2014) at Cayuga Medical Center.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday (December 28, 2014) at Covert Funeral Home in Ovid. A graveside service, officiated by Susan Pentz-Frost will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday (December 29, 2014) at West Lodi Cemetery.

Dick was born in Hector, N.Y. on October 12, 1941, a son of the late George and Nora (Patterson) Everts Sr. Dick's early years were spent helping with the family farm, and despite the rough times, he learned the value of hard work. He worked at Ithaca College for a number of years, and then spent more than 17 years as an equipment operator for the Town of Lodi. After his retirement, he worked for Brewer Construction of Ovid as a truck driver. He was an avid sportsman, and had been a life member of both the Interlaken and South Seneca Sportsman's Clubs. He was very sociable and loved to be around people, and never turned down the chance to have a beer with his buddies.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Eliza "Sis" Everts; a son, Rick (Bonnie) Everts of Trumansburg and their daughter, Tyler; his stepchildren, Robert Snyder of Ovid, Cathy (Dallis) Gable of Romulus, Richard (Evenia) Snyder of Cape Canaveral, Fla., Joe Snyder and Daniel (Alysia) Snyder, all of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Betty (Louis) Weber, Barb (Leonard) Wilson and Jimmy (Marie) Everts, all of Interlaken, Margaret Reeves of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his siblings, George Everts Jr., William Everts, and Sue Weber; and by his step-sons, John M. and Lawrence E. Snyder.
