Richard Haag Obituary

April 11, 1927 – October 28, 2025

Richard "Dick" Haag, 98, formerly of Geneva, N.Y., died October 28, 2025, in Reno, Nev.

Born in Geneva on April 11, 1927, he was the son of the late Clarence and Margaret Haag, and stepmother Charlotte Haag. Dick was a graduate of Geneva High School and later attended the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he trained as a master electrician.

He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947 at the Sampson Naval Base, working as a firefighter and electrician's mate. Upon returning home, Dick joined the Hydrant Hose Company of the Geneva Fire Department in 1947 and remained a member for the rest of his life. He was also a longtime member of Geneva Ark Lodge No. 33, Free and Accepted Masons, and served as Master of the former Geneva Lodge No. 965 in 1964. In addition, he was a lifelong member of the Geneva American Legion Winnek Post 396.

Dick spent most of his career operating Haag Electric in Geneva. Outside of his professional work, he found his greatest enjoyment in time spent with his wife of 70 years, Sheila, and their family. He was an avid private pilot and traveled extensively throughout his life.

He is survived by his children David (Linda) Haag of Geneva, Diane Goulding of Reno, Nev., and Don Haag of Reno, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Sheila Haag.

Dick will be remembered for his devotion to family, his love of travel, and his longstanding service to his community and to his country.

Arrangements will be at the convenience of the family.

Yesterday

I met Dick on a Construction Project we both worked on! Dick was not only great to work with, he was one of the most honest decent men I have ever met! My heart felt condolences go out to Dave and his family!

Yesterday

Dave, and family, so sorry for your loss. I remember Dick coming in for coffee every morning at Mary´s Diner, before Dave and him went out to start their day. A very good guy. He will be missed.
