Robert Black Obituary

PALMYRA/NEWARK - Robert A. Black, 62, died Friday (Oct. 9, 2009) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital.
Family and friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 11) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 E. Miller St., Newark. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday (Oct. 12) at the funeral home with the Rev. Christy Wareham officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery with full military honors.
Memorials, in his name, may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 1200 Scottsville Road A, Rochester 14624.
Mr. Black was born on April 11, 1947, in Santiago, Pa., the son of Forrest and Freda Frill Digman. He had worked as a welder at Garlock Inc. for 40 years. Bob was in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1966 to 1972, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of the August Mauer Post American Legion and the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW in Newark.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Stella of Palmyra; three daughters, Mary (Fred) Stubenrod of Palmyra, Julie (Scott) Heers of Phelps, Amy Jo Greule of Palmyra; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; brother, Donald Digman of Aliquippa, Pa.; and a sister, Lucy Sanders of Sun Valley, Ca.
