Robert Schinsing Obituary

NEWARK - Robert Allen Schinsing passed away peacefully at the Wayne County Nursing Home on March 6, 2026.

He was born to Winfred and Freda (Allen) Schinsing June 20, 1930 in Newark, N.Y. Graduating from Newark High School, he served in the Korean War in the Air Force from 1949 to 1953.

He married Joan Krusemark in 1950.

After he left the Air Force, they settled back in Newark where he worked in bindery at Baker Britt. They moved to Los Altos in 1964 where he continued working in the printing industry. In 1983 they returned to Newark. After retiring from Monroe Litho in Rochester, he continued working part time at Progressive Printing in Newark until it closed.

He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, the Elks, and he volunteered at the Humane Society.

He enjoyed traveling, making many trips to Cape Cod, flying to visit his grandchildren in California, and attending the yearly Air Force reunion.

He loved woodworking and made close to 100 airplane bird feeders.

Predeceased by his wife of 62 years Joan; 6 brothers and sisters; and daughter-in-law Susan (Glotzbach) Schinsing.

Survived by sons Gary (Junelle Wood) of CA and Greg, of Newark; granddaughters Lilly (Jack) Whalen and Simone Schinsing, of CA; great-grandchildren Paloma and Delmar Whalen and Sebastian Schinsing.

Family would like to thank the staff of Ashton Place, The Terrace, and Wayne County Nursing Home for their care.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 11 from 4-6 p.m. at Schulz-Pusateri Funeral Home 103 Maple Court, Newark. A graveside service in East Newark Cemetery will be held Thursday, March 12 at 10:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Wayne County.
