Ruth Donnan Obituary
WATERLOO - Ruth E. Bickhart Donnan, 85, of 2176 Edwards Rd., died Sunday (July 31, 2011) peacefully at home.
Friends may call from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 4) at Junius Presbyterian Church, 621 Whiskey Hill Rd. in Junius. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 4) at the church. The Rev. Ellen Donnan, pastor, will officiate and Alyson Elder, a friend of the family, will participate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Cambridge, N.Y.

Ruth was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Gardenville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Franklin and Elsie Fegley Bickhart. She lived most of her life in Cambridge before moving to the Waterloo area in 2003. She was a graduate of Harpursville Central School. She was also a graduate of Philadelphia Bible College. She was employed with Cambridge Central School for many years before she retired. She was an active member of Cambridge United Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder and a clerk of session. Later she transferred her membership to Junius Presbyterian Church, where she was also an active member. She lived her life serving others with compassion and humility.
She is survived by her daughter: Ellen Donnan of Waterloo; son: William J. (Holly) Donnan of Mayfield; two grandchildren: Jaime Lea Donnan and John Donnan; one brother: Donald (Myrna) Bickhart of Yorktown, Va.; two sisters: Elsie Lynch of Binghamton and Betty (David) Starkweather of Merced, Calif.; many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband whom she married in December of 1956: John W. Donnan and one brother: Franklin Bickhart.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Coe-Genung Funeral Home in Waterloo.
