Shirley Dombrowski Obituary
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours Thursday, (July 11), from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia St. Waterloo. A private graveside service will be held in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls, at the convenience of the family.
Shirley was born June 4, 1934 in Smyrna, New York, to the late Lee Park and Hazel (Wedge) Goodman. She graduated from Cazenovia high school. She married her husband Jerome in 1957 and they had four children. They left N.Y. in 1965, living in Mississippi, Connecticut and Massachusetts before returning to Seneca Falls in 1976. In addition to raising her children, some of the places she worked at included Talbots in Hingham, Mass., Mystic Seaport in Connecticut and Eisenhower College. Shirley retired as secretary at the Rochester Museum and Science Center in 1997.
Shirley was an avid sailor along with her husband, sailing out of the Red Jacket Yacht Club. She enjoyed tennis, sewing, gardening, a good glass of wine, and especially loved spending time with her family. Shirley will fondly be remembered for her homemade Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies.
She is survived by her children, Anne (Michael) Chura, Christopher (Beth) Dombrowski, David (Amanda) Dombrowski, and Mary (Robert) Andrews; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Meghan (Dann) Whitmore, their daughter Nora, Andrew Dombrowski, Michael (Rebecca) Dombrowski, Kaylee (Nicholas) Dougherty, their daughter Piper, Jack Dombrowski, Joseph Andrews; and step-grandchildren Jennifer (Kate) Andrews, their sons Miles and Kai, Kyle (Brianne) Boncaro, their son Ryder, and Nicholas Andrews. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Jerome and her five siblings.
