Susan Close Obituary

Susan K. Close

Age 78, of Penn Yan, N.Y., passed away October 12, 2024, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.

Sue and Tom were married on June 26, 1971 in San Carlos, CA. They shared a beautiful journey, first moving to Rochester, N.Y. in 1973 and culminated in a tranquil life on Keuka Lake after retiring.

She is survived by her loving husband Thomas H. Close; sister-in-law Paula (Christopher) Dow; and beloved nieces and nephews.

She was born in San Francisco, CA on January 16, 1946, the daughter of Willis F. Alder and Hazel M. Alder (Kranz). She received her Bachelor of Science from Chico State College in July 1967 and her MBA in August 1973 from the University of Santa Clara. She was a member of APICS-American Production and Inventory Control Society, and worked as a Production Planner at Kodak until she retired.

She played the fiddle with the Crooked Lake Fiddle Club, sharing her love of music with others, and she offered her time and energy volunteering with the Literacy Volunteers program and the Living Well Mission in Penn Yan

I spent time with Susan while she was a tutor for Literacy Volunteers in Yates County. She was a very nice woman, who made an impact with her life. Hearing her husband and her play fiddles together was a delight!
