Vincent Roe Obituary
BELLONA/NUNDA - Vincent D. Roe, age 38, died unexpectedly on May 6, 2021, after having an unknown medical episode. A good Samaritan stopped to help him and called 911. His family is eternally grateful to the kind stranger, knowing that Vincent would have done the same for someone else.
Calling hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday (May 21) at the Oakland Wesleyan Church, 1519 Route 436, Nunda, NY 14517; with a Funeral Service to follow at 3:30 p.m.
Vincent was born May 2, 1983 in Geneva, N.Y., and grew up in Bellona, N.Y., where he attended Penn Yan Academy and later Finger Lakes Community College. Growing up in a small town, he learned the value of family, neighbors and hard-work from an early age. He worked in numerous service and trade industries, often having multiple jobs at once, and made many life-long friends along the way. His first love was the outdoors, with no use for an actual calendar, he measured the year by which hunting or fishing season was open or was about to be. After a season had closed, Vincent would spend time telling hunting and fishing stories from seasons' past (over and over again) with his friends. Vincent would never hesitate to teach a stranger, his friends or their children about hunting and fishing.
Vincent was a devoted husband of five years to his wife, Laura. His world was his family and he was theirs. Vincent and Laura made their home in Dalton, N.Y., where they brought their love of animals and the outdoors together. They worked hard to create their own little piece of paradise in the country for their family. Vincent will live in the hearts of Laura and their son, Lucas forever. His greatest joy in life was being a great dad to Lucas, age 4. The two were inseparable. Vincent loved teaching Lucas about life, family, friends, and the outdoors.
As the eldest child to his mother, Donna, Vincent was her "son-shine" and her pride and joy. He loved his mother, sister, grandmother, aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, nephews and in-laws, and he was deeply loved by all of them. Vincent was hard-working, funny, smart, sarcastic (with a hint of cynicism), charming and creative. He was always thinking of new ways to work smarter (not harder), catch more fish, shoot more geese, call more ducks, get the biggest buck, or go on an adventure. A kid at heart, Vincent was always cracking jokes (many of them his loved ones had heard a thousand times) or finding a way to play a prank on one of his friends. With a memorable smile and infectious laugh, he could bring joy to any room, no matter the circumstance.
Vincent is survived by his wife, Laura Roe; son, Lucas Roe; mother, Donna (David) Vize; sister, Staci (Joe) Whitney; and grandmother, LaVerna Roe; his parents-in-law Dan and Wendy Derrenbacher; along with several brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, aunts, uncles, niece, nephews and friends.
Vincent was recently predeceased by his father, Larry D. Roe in March of 2021.
