Michelle Bobst Obituary
Michelle Renee L'Esperance Jetton Bobst
2/21/1964-5/2/2016
Michelle passed away May 2nd, 2016, at Kaiser Hospital in Roseville, Calif. Her health was not the best due to extremely high blood pressure and everyday stress that she couldn't seem to get away from. It seemed to follow her like a shadow, eventually causing congestive heart failure, which led to a triple bypass heart surgery at age 46. After her surgery, she had been walking regularly and increasing distance which was helping her feel continually better, until a few years ago, when a fall in a store parking lot made walking any distance impossible and most physical activities very painful.
She suddenly did not feel well on Saturday, April 30, and on Sunday, May 1, was taken by ambulance to Kaiser emergency and treated for dehydration. She quickly began feeling better. Her heart stopped suddenly an hour or so later. The doctors were able to resuscitate her, only for cardiac arrest to occur again an hour after the first occurence. The staff at Kaiser worked very hard, and for a very long time, to no avail. They were not sure why, but there was evidence of internal bleeding. She was also on blood thinners to stop her from forming clots. We are thankful to the staff at the hospital for putting in so much effort.
Michelle was born February 21, 1964 at Sutter Memorial Hospital. At that time, her family resided on Greenback Lane in Sacramento. At age four, she moved to Rio Linda and to Loomis at age five. In 1970, age six, she attended first grade while living in an apartment on Northgate Blvd. She returned to Rio Linda at age eight, living near 18th and D and then moving to Delano St for a short time. During 1975-1977, she lived in eight different cities, throughout three counties and in 12 different houses - Elverta, Rio Linda, Pleasant Grove, Rocklin, North Highlands, Loomis, and Roseville. After marrying Steve Bobst in 1997, she moved to Citrus Heights, where she lived very happily with him until the time of her death.
Michelle was very resilient and even cheated death many times. In 5th grade, she was hit in the head with a root beer mug. In 6th grade, her sister's horse bit her in the shoulder, picking her up and dropping her. She had surgery on her foot for a bone spur in 9th grade. Michelle nearly died when she flew through the windshield of her boyfriend's car in an accident. The ambulance driver had trouble finding the hospital. A lot of pain and many surgeries followed. In 11th Grade, she totaled her 1970 Mustang. She also totaled her 1970 Chevelle, when it was hit by another driver. In 1987, she was a passenger in her sister's car when it was hit by another car. In 1990, her Quarter Horse fell on top of her and while in ankle deep water, she grabbed an electric rope fence for horses, sustaining burns to her throat, 40% of her mouth, and the outside of her lips. Then, while shopping at Michael's, she slipped on a large water puddle leaking from a mop bucket. This caused many doctors appointments and a dead nerve in her left side of her neck. In 1995, a friend improperly installed a universal joint in her truck and when it came apart, it catapulted her truck, tumbled it, punctured her lung and sent her to the hospital for two weeks. Soon after, she and husband, Steve were hit in the rear end of their S10 Blazer by a 16 year old driver doing 80 to 90 MPH, at night, in the rain, in a 35 MPH zone. After that, while driving the kids around in her Nissan Pathfinder, she was struck by another driver totaling her car. After surviving all of that, a fall in a parking lot that injured her ankle, hip and back caused her pain and disability until the end.
Michelle loved riding and caring for horses, working in the yard, caring for local wildlife, as well as keeping tabs on wildlife via the internet. She and husband, Steve, raised two squirrels and released them, which she really enjoyed. She loved to color elaborate pictures, and did so with her grandkids often, whom she loved and cherished very much. Michelle loved taking pictures, pictures and more pictures! She proud of her heritage and she was a member of Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians of North Dakota.
She was dearly loved by her immediate family, three foster families and a family by marriage, plus many, many friends. Michelle was preceded in death by her sister, Diana Lynn Shugart, her foster sister, Joann Early, father, Francis L'Esperance, and father Virgil Brinsfield.
Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Steve, two sons, Cameron and Craig Jetton, three stepchildren, Steven Bobst, Courtney Phares, and Robin Bobst, four grandchildren, Kaidence, Lexi, Toryn Jetton and Lily Bobst, mother, Alice L'Esperance, siblings, Shelley Whippler and Frank L'Esperance, Foster parents, John and Susan Firchau, siblings, Lloyd Firchau, Coree Keenan, Brooke and Todd Firchau, Foster parents Richard and Patricia Ash, siblings, Jeff, Michael, Kimberly, Christi, Michelle and Kevin, Foster parents, William and Cecile Skeens, siblings, Glenda and Tamara Skeens, and Janette Delany.
